Soul Mate Jewelery

Author: Marcus Peterson

The word Jewelry comes from the word "jewel," which originates from the Old French word "joule," which came to use around the 13th century. Though primarily worn as ornaments, some jewelry is worn for its magical or spiritual properties. Precious stones especially are believed to possess the power to modify the influence of the planets and to create spiritual connections. Such is the power assigned to these gems that necklaces, earrings, or bracelets made with semi-precious and precious stones are meant to carry the energy of your passions and your own personal aura to attract love and to bring you closer to your cosmic soul mate.

Though gold has been the primary metal used to make magnificent jewelry over the ages, wood, bones, shells, teeth, hair, and even the blood of the beloved have been used to fashion jewelry.

In certain oriental cultures, jade is considered lucky for love, and it is usual for lovers to carry jade in their pocket to stroke in order to bring good luck in love. Perhaps jade could be termed the soul mate jewel. Some famous gems are even believed to carry a curse

In modern times, lovers of either sex wear beautifully crafted sterling silver or gold bands around their finger engraved with Mo Anam Cara (which in Irish/Gaelic means my soul mate) to reinforce the concept of the twin flame. These rings have little Claddagh designs between the words; the Claddagh symbol of hands holding a crowned heart is the symbol of love, loyalty and friendship.

Taking the concept further are trinity, or love knot, designs for jewelry, which are typically used on pendants. The interlaced, unbroken line of the decorative knot symbolizes man's spiritual growth, eternal life and never-ending love. Each twist and turn has its individual magical and mystical qualities. This knot is then combined with the traditional Claddagh design of hands, heart and crown to symbolize the concept of eternal love and soul mates. Other popular soul mate jewelry designs are created around the concept of entwined hearts.

Though gold, silver and platinum are popular metals used to make jewelry, copper has long been associated with the planet Venus and is thought to be a powerful love charm.

Among gems, it is said that rose quartz generates strong love energies and acts as a love magnet that will encircle you so that you can generate the vibrations necessary to attract your soul mate. Though, of course, in our modern times, diamonds have the strongest association to the concept of eternal love.
